Mid Semester Break

Oh, my children, Lo, I am feeling the effects of the season.  Like the French and Portugese do before Lent, I am feeling the need for a time of fun and drinking heavily, or at the very least, dancing in the street and forgetting my cares for a bit.

In other words, I am tired, and I am cranky, and I need to take a break from social justice and nurture the humourous snarky in my soul.

I am at the point where I actually had a very heated (on my side) discussion with Bob that was utterly out of character for me, and it is the direct result of the amount of reading I've been doing on that fount of all that is opinionated, the Intarwebs.  I am a keen student of social justice, but it's starting to crowd out my other thinking, so I need to ease up for a bit.  And Bob, I'm still really sorry I did that to you - it was completely unfair, and all my fault.

So, light and silly posts will be forthcoming for a bit until I have my equilibrium (and lithium) back on an even keel.

Speaking of keels, I woke up Saturday feeling like I'd been keel-hauled over the most barnacle-encrusted hull of all time, but I still managed to have a really good time at Gardiner's Yule that evening.  Pictures will be forthcoming.

I also am almost finished with the fill stitches on the first jacket piece - a few more days, and I'll be able to post pics.

We're doing the "Elizabethan House" track for University, and I have to write handouts, so I'll be busy.

(For those not familiar with EH, we do an entire day of classes on parts of doing SCA events in persona, using our Elizabethan personas as an example - we cover building a persona, clothes, food and tableware, furniture and camping, and pastimes.  It's fun, and we show how to use all sorts of resources to build a cool look for events, from clothes and accessories to the dayshade you use, to feast.)

Anyway.  Snarkness and Light.

I will do it my way, but that does not mean your way is not valid...

Ugh; arms - lead. typos - numerous. mood - decidedly weird. post - rambling.

I appreciate whomever of my readers who held back and didn't post massive disagreement with my post yesterday - you are a rare and noble breed, especially on the Intartubes.

There is a strange compulsion that many people have, to demand that everyone like or agree with the same things they like or agree with. It's not a new compulsion; as far back as I can remember, I have run into people who cannot picture any worldview but their own, and who will emphatically insist that you must see things their way, like their likes, and dislike their dislikes. A difference of taste, of opinion, of friends, and it is like the earth has opened up behind you, and you have arrayed yourself with all the forces of Evil-with-a-capital-E, and must therefore be destroyed, or at least harangued until you give in to their way of thinking.
