Embrace the Impossibilities

Bob goes off to the farm again today to make sure the counter guy and the insulation guy get their stuff done.  I always miss him when he's gone overnight.

My vaguely bad mood from yesterday is continuing, despite the presence of a delicious new battery (om nom nom); I can only assume, since a number of my friends are finding life somewhat irritating at the moment, that this is simply a global downturn, and therefore not my fault.  As such, I am now declaring the rest of the day Not My Responsibility[TM], and I will putter about at whatever thing catches my fancy, rather than being a dutiful little worker.

Mind you, this cannot apply to work - more presentations need to be made (everyone is running around muttering "grants!" under their breath), and I must be available if they need help putting folders together.  Normally, I would get snippy at this (my copying, phone-answering, and faxing days being long behind me), but apparently everyone is helping, so I will be good.

Plus, it gives me a chance to get my circulation going.  It's bloody freezing in here.

But after work - I plan to hit the copy store to make some copies (some of which will be winging their way to you, Kass - soon-ish.  I even bought a mailing tube so they won't have crease lines), and then... who knows.

I plan to enjoy the uncertainty.  And maybe a nap.

I tried to find a link to the lyrics to a Clam Chowder song, "it's Not Our Responsibility', but my google fu failed. I was written by Sir Volodya. It might have helped brighten the day.

Yay! Brava! I heartily agree!

Can you burn me a CD of the files in PDF format? It'll mean the quality will be better. And you won't have to ship me copies.
Aug. 19th, 2008 01:21 pm (UTC)
I'll try. I was going to send you scans of the designs on disk, but the large scale ones are the best quality, and I can't scan them at that size (I also want you to be able to see the final size). I'll see what Staples can do this afternoon - they might be able to scan to disk in PDF.

Pardon my saying so, but I'm glad to hear that the Miasma or Epic Fail extends beyond my property line; misery loves company after all!

Oh, we're all on a road trip to fail this week - hop in!

Wasn't this what Douglas Adams was getting at the the SEP field (Somebody Else's Problem)?
Aug. 19th, 2008 02:09 pm (UTC)
Oh, no - that's the evil field that lets people get harrassed, and no-one steps in to help them/use the last paper in the copier without getting more/drink the last of the coffee without brewing a new pot. This is more of a global "today is my day to be free of responsibilities" day.

There's some indications that Post-Pennsic Depression is particularly rampant this year. Contributing factors may include beautiful weather (leaving us without the typical desire to pack up all our stuff and GTFO to A/C or dry clothes or what-have-you) and a generally awesome time had by all.

And it's contagious this year...I've got it and I didn't go to Pennsic.
Aug. 19th, 2008 02:34 pm (UTC)
I'm with baronessv and ... well, pretty much everyone else above, it seems. Ever since getting home from Pennsic, all I've wanted to do is sleep and ... go back to Pennsic, or some other magical dimension where many of my friends from all over the country are in one place at the same time. I'm calling a foul-- interfering with the pass-- on the real world.

I am getting the "What The HELL Is Going On?!?" vibe from the universe a lot lately. Random emotional upheaval and silly crap that gets way of out control seem to be the order of the past 12 months or so.

Can we please have a 'do over' on this past year?

*le sigh*

BTW – You work in grant writing?
Aug. 19th, 2008 03:11 pm (UTC)
Not the whole last year please! It's been my best year yet! Not easy by any means, but...

Here's hoping things get better. At least I don't have to go through the Post Pennsic Depression - mine stemmed from the Not Going to Pennsic Depression. Simply put, I got it out of the way earlier. But! I may actually make it next year.

*not holding breath but hoping against hope anyway*

{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} <- that's so there's plenty to go around.

Hmm, maybe I'm in a good mood because I have fencing practice this evening. *evil grin* Nothing beats being able to go *stabby stabby slash* to reduce tension. ;)

My placebo for Post-Pennsic Depression is simply that MDRF is coming up this weekend. That, and pie. Lots of apple caramel walnut pie...yum.

I'm glad your car is better! I think I'm beginning to believe the mechanic when he said that the midget that was hand carrying the part of my truck down from New York got run over by a buggy in PA....
