Frog bags

Of the six 17th century stumpwork frog bags I know about (LACMA, Ashmolean, U. Alberta, Royal Collection, Museum of London, and one I found on a Pinterest page that seems to be in private hands), the Museum of London frog is my favourite.

This picture actually gives you the wrong idea about its size - I've seen it in person, and it's the size of my palm, about 3x3".

Apparently, frog bags were a thing in the first half of the 17th century.  I can totally understand why.
