Our vultures:

They've gone from little balls of fluff to grown-ups so quickly!
As I think I said in a previous post, Bob had the idea of putting out water for the vultures, since we realized they do drink, and their usual spring/puddle is bone dry in this heat, and it's had the interesting effect that the juveniles are suddenly a lot less shy of us when we come out with more water for them. They drink at least three times a day when given the opportunity, and will tip the bowl to get the last little bits of water out (they're quite dextrous with those feet!). If they're standing around the bowl when I come out with fresh water, they will let me come quite close before hopping off, whereas before, as soon as I stepped out of the door, they'd hide.
Smart little things. They know where their water comes from.
It's been so hot here, we're all wilting. I can't even go outside; it's yucky. Besides, I'm apparently in a sleepy cycle of thyroid-ness, since I'm right now sleeping about 10 hours a night, and constantly tired. I'm trying to make an over-doublet for Bob so he can fence in his protective jacket, and it's going sooooo sloooooooooowly. Normally, I'm all over sewing, but I'm just sitting on the sofa reading. Perhaps the Hoarding: Buried Alive marathon on TLC tonight will get me moving.
