for SOME people, vitamin B (especially 6 and 12) helps migraines. in my case they work better than maxalt

For me it's magnesium that helps... along with the topomax I take daily for both migraines & bipolar. I also take imitrex when a migraine starts to come on.

I <3 the new icon!

I had a student recommend magnesium to me last Friday. What do you take?

Thanks... it's not actually new, I just don't use it very often.

My neurologist had me on 250 at first but then she upped me to 500.

Oh! And my parents use Tiger Balm... a teeny bit on the temples & back of the neck... red is best (stronger) but you need to be careful not to get it near mucous membranes. I use finger cots or gloves because it's yucky for awhile even washing your hands several times for quite awhile!

I think last time I saw it, it was monochrome.

Do you take a specific product?

The one called Tiger Balm. Back when you could only get it in Chinatown, in 1979, I got permission from our Choir Director while we were touring to run across the street and see if they carried it because it was the only thing that knocked out my mom's headaches. He said yes and the store owner was surprised to see a red-head & a blond come in asking for it. His immediate answer was "White or red?" I cocked my head and asked, "Which is stronger?" He told me, "The red is stronger but it may stain your clothes." I nodded and said,"Then the red please, I believe my mother would rather risk staining her clothes then having the migraines."

I have seen both of them as well as an oil at Walgreens.

My sympathies, on all of the above. Benadryl doesn't knock you out?

(One of the fwe advantages of almost never using medication is that it still knocks you out as needed. Wheeee.)

Chocolate-covered espresso beans are my daytime Benedryl accompaniment.

That sounds lovely, unfortunately, with two root canals yesterday (3 hours in the chair - they should make those things of Tempur-Pedic material!), I'm not up to anything more than a very gentle soup and juice. :)
