Jacket Progress

Hey there!

I've been hella busy (does anyone still use that phrase any more?) writing for work and for University, so I haven't exactly been raring to write here.

However, the first jacket piece has complete fill.  I finished out the piece I started testing the gold on, and now it just needs the gold, GST, and spangles.  The fill, she is done.

128 hours:

Next, I'm going to fill the fiddly bits - the gussets and shoulder wings.  Then I'll go back to the arm pieces - I'll do the other under arm piece next, so my sewing smooths out even more before I do the pieces that will be more visible.

BTW, we saw Legion last night - awesomely cheesy, great fun.  I really enjoyed it - no thinking required at all, and a great combination of hilarity, horror, fighting, guns, and cheesy acting in the best possible way.  I can't wait for the DVD to come out so I can "review" it for you guys.

I. Am. In. Aw ... utterly and completely astounding! I wish I had your skill and patience, but embroidery is the one thing I don't do well. Very, very nice :)

Totally unrelated, but I just saw a link for this restaurant and thought of you, because they have lots of gluten free items -- http://www.great-sage.com/menu.html in Clarksville

The heavier silk is Halcyon Yarn Gemstone silk, the fill silk is ver au soie 1003.

It's looking absolutely beautiful - I am in awe, as ever! :D

I went to the V&A on Tuesday with the boy, and after I'd sated myself in the mediaeval galleries we went through to the C17th and I saw one of their embroidered jackets there. And my first thought was 'Oooh, pretty! But I prefer attack_laurel's jacket...'.

OMG. Why do I even try to sew anything? I'm not worthy!

That's what I said when Tricia invited me to sew on the Plimoth jacket. :)

It's time and patience, that's all. I never did any kind of fill stitch except speckling before I started this jacket, and I've never worked in gold thread before. If you can follow a line and count up to four, you can do this kind of thing, no problem.

OK, that does it. That absolutely does it. Someday I must attend an event in Atlantia, just so I can look at your jacket.
I hope that doesn't make you feel like a museum.

You're going to be absolutely faboo in that jacket. But I suspect you already know that. I've been a bad, bad Bridgette and not reading... but I'm very glad that I didn't miss this.
